This wedding held at a local winery called Naked Mountain Winery is the perfect example of intimate and fun. Check out how Danielle and Ash made their wedding day fit their personalities perfectly!

Tell us about your wedding!

Our wedding day inspiration came from our venue. Naked Mountain Winery is one of our favorites and one we are members at. With beautiful views, delicious wines and a staff that we also call friends it was a no brainer. Our colors were already picked out as I (Danielle) knew I wanted lavender and gray for our colors which played perfectly with the natural landscape, beautiful vines and industrial farm house feel of the winery. Our officiant was Danielle’s uncle who has now performed the ceremony for several family members.

Let’s talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception?

Our décor was all DIY. With Naked mountain being a location we could rent out we had the place to ourselves. The venue is beautiful on its own and so we just tried to decorate to enhance that. In the tasting room where the ceremony was held, Danielle made the wedding arbor that was then decorated by Ash. Ash had a plan that was easy to execute on our day placing tulle, florals and DIY signage throughout.

For our cupcake display we used wooden wine boxes to keep with our winery theme. On the deck between the tasting room and barrel room we had customized corn hole boards for guests to play that were made by Danielle. Inside the barrel room was where dinner was served. This is usually an overflow space for the vineyard or a members only location. Ash really transformed the space to make it enchanted.

She hung mason jar lights from the ceiling, added a wall of fairy lights with hundreds of pictures of us. (best part was that was a surprise Danielle didn’t know about). Each food station was labeled with a sign to easily see what was served. Our center pieces were wine bottles from the winery and florals. Each table was named for a different wine instead of a number!

Did you personalize the day in any way ?

We personalized our day in many ways, from our DIY signs, so our Mrs. and Mrs. Pint glasses with skittles in them. With Naked Mountain providing the wine, we wanted equally as delicious craft beer and decided the favor should be the glass. Our food theme that was executed perfect by our caterer was \”upscale winery picnic\” We had a slider bar, a French Fry bar, a wing bar (Danielle is from Buffalo!) and a taco bar (Ash family is from south west US!)

The food was a hit and provided enough variety to keep everyone happy including our vegan guests as everything was made to be allergen friendly and options for the non meat eaters. Nick executed it perfectly. Our cupcakes were made by our son and were all dairy free!

How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.

We met at school, Ash is a teacher and Danielle is a Truancy Officer. We became friends and were inseparable. Eventually we just realized we were a couple! It is pretty amazing looking back and not having any official first date or anything like that. We just realized we worked! For the proposal we spend a day at Bush Gardens Christmas town in Williamsburg each December with our family.

Its a tradition we love. In 2019 Danielle’s daughter and her boyfriend, our son father, Aunt, Uncle and Nephew all attended. Nervous as could be Ash was stopped at security when the ring set off the metal detector! Unaware Danielle kept walking to get out of the way of the crowds as Ash on the sly showed the security officer the ring, with a thumbs up she was threw! Shortly into the day the family took a ride on the sky ride, up there with the just the two of us Ash asked me to marry her! I of course said yes! The rest of the day was spent with huge smiles and multiple looks at her new ring!

What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?

There were several points of anticipation and special moments. For Danielle being walked down the isle by her dad was a huge moment for her. Danielle’s mom passed away 10 years ago and was not able to see her as happy as she is made the moment shared with her Dad all the more important. For Ash her most anticipated special moment was the first look. We set it among the winery vines and it was truly special.

The Bubble send off was one we were excited for and Ash worked hard to get enough bubble guns and wands to make sure the moment was amazing! It was, as our amazing photographer Megan said \”best bubble send off ever!\” Our First dance was hotly anticipated, as Ash is a trained dancer and Danielle is NOT. Ash really wanted a choreographed dance and Danielle agreed. It turned out to be really cute and a hit among guests!

Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?

Ash’s biggest wedding planning advice is plan for everything and understand something will still go wrong and that is ok. For Danielle its \”Bring me solutions, not problems\” as inevitably there were things that didn’t go as planned but were easily worked out because we had such a solid day of plan in place. If you don’t have a wedding planner find that friend or guest who can help out in making your plan work.

Finally trust your vendors, you picked them so trust them! Marriage advice, communicate, its cliché but its true, make sure you talk and don’t hold grudges. With that communication also know that if you give 80% and your partner also gives 80% no one is slighted and each are always filling the others bucket.
