“So we met back in college. I had just started working at Starbucks with Lora’s coworker and he introduced us, probably not knowing that he’d be in our wedding one day. After a few months, Lora and I started talking and hanging out more frequently. Unfortunately, around that same time I was getting ready to move to San Antonio. I lived there for a few months before coming back and moving in with Lora. There were two proposals.
I proposed first in Amsterdam. Lora was on a three month backpacking trip with her best friend (and maid of honor) and I wanted to meet up with her for my birthday and pop the question. A quick 10 hour flight later, I arranged a romantic walking tour of Amsterdam and proposed on a bridge at the very end. She had already guessed that I was proposing, but that’s what happens when you fall in love with a Sherlock. Lora’s proposal happened here in Texas.
She took me out for a jazz and poetry night in Deep Ellum in Dallas. I thought it was just a simple date night and we get five minutes in before we realize this was going to be just a bunch of old guys playing the trumpet really badly. We hightailed it out of there and found ourselves wandering around Klyde Warren park. She took me to the big tree in the middle and read a poem that she had written for me.”
