Camille and Nina won my Valentine’s Day adventure session giveaway, but with the year that 2020 has been, we weren’t able to safely and comfortably get together to do their engagement photos until this fall!

It worked out perfectly though, because the autumn colors combined with the beauty of Virginia’s Great Falls made for a totally gorgeous session!

Q1: Let’s start at the beginning. How did you two first meet?
A1: We actually met on the dating app, Bumble! It’s so hard meeting someone these days, and we were lucky to be able to find each other on this app.

Q2: What makes your relationship special?
A2: Nina and I just balance each other. I keep her wild and she keeps me grounded. We have a fun and playful relationship, and that is really important to us. We really like to cook, our new thing is Joanna Gaines’ Cookbook (from Fixer Upper).

Q3: How did you know your partner was the one?
A3: I know it’s cliché, but we both felt we knew this was it before we even met! Nina had just had hip surgery and was bedridden, so we had a lot of time to talk on Bumble and connect prior to our first date.

Q4: Give us all the details about the proposal. How and where did it happen?
A4: Right after Christmas, we had tickets to Enchant in DC. A few months before this, Nina and I spoke about being ready to take the next step. I definitely had a feeling it would be coming around the holidays because we both LOVE Christmas. I went to Kay Jeweler’s and bought the ring that I knew Nina had been eyeing up. I walked around DC with the ring in my pocket all day, and I still wasn’t sure if Nina had my ring or planned to propose later on that night at Enchant. Our friends Sarah and Anthony came along to ease our nerves, and capture Nina’s big moment. We walked around Enchant which was very romantic and festive, and Nina led the group of us down into the stands of the stadium, which was off limits. She asked our friends to take a picture of us, and after walking down a few steps she knelt down in front of me. I was so nervous I could barely get my hand in my pocket to retrieve her ring and reply “only if you marry me too.” I had a gut feeling that Nina would propose, but she had no idea that I had the courage to do it back.

Q5: We’re all about the bling… Tell us all about that ring!
A5: I bought Nina’s ring from Kay Jeweler’s. She prefers more of a classic diamond that can’t be missed! I, on the other hand, am picky and stubborn! We looked everywhere, and I just could not find anything I liked. I’m very partial to antique and different styles. I was scrolling on social media, and came across a ring site that caught my eye called Moon Magic. They had different stones like topaz, moonstones and quartz. I finally found an opal ring that I fell in love with immediately!

Q6: What are you most excited about when it comes to your wedding planning?
A6: A couple of things have us really excited for this planning! Nina and I are originally from Northeast Pennsylvania. We moved to NOVA in 2019 for better job opportunities. Nina is now a kindergarten teacher, and I’m a registered behavior technician at a children’s autism center. Having our family and friends travel out to our beautiful new home is a really big deal for us! They get to see our new life here, as well as spend our most important day for us. We’re also ecstatic to dress up my two-year-old niece, Everly, as our flower girl. She is the light of our lives and we travel home often to get to see her.
