About Sharpe Suiting

Wu found his niche market in 2014 within the fashion industry – queer fashion – and was determined to make his mark and radically shift the world of fashion into a more inclusive space for clients within the LGBTQ+ community. Recognizing that he could combine his love of fashion and his passion for the LGBTQ+ community, he found a unique opportunity to create a challenge to gender norms and how they show up within style. And we are all for it.

Leon Elias Wu, founder and designer at Sharpe Suiting provides details about the process to order a custom suit…

“At Sharpe we handle everything face to face, whether it’s in-person or via zoom. Bespoke suiting requires attention to detail that we can only achieve by having your input and knowing how we can best help you feel good in your suit. We also take all your measurements in-person or instruct a friend or partner on how to take them for you while we guide them virtually in a zoom. We have tailors we partner with wherever you are located across the country to ensure any final adjustment or alterations are just right.
If you are an online shopper looking to buy one of our predesigned ready-to-wear suits on our website or another brand, we recommend having and knowing your suit size or using a measuring tape per our measuring instructions online. If you’re uncomfortable, you can have a tailor measure you, so you can work from your own proper measurements.”

What started as a design consultation with friends, the queer-owned company grew to become a premier suiting label in Hollywood through word of mouth; Sharpe Suiting has since been featured in Huffington Post, LA Times, Forbes.com, VICE, Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Vanity Fair, Teen Vogue, BuzzFeed, and Fashionista. Since 2013, Sharpe suiting has been helping brave individuals showcase precisely who they are.

The designs finessed NY and LA Fashion Week catwalks and have made appearances on red carpets at the Oscars, Emmys, and Cannes Film Festival. Through their successes and continued passion for serving the community who initially inspired them, they’ve been able to donate hundreds of suits to LGBTQ youth centers, non-profit fundraisers, colleges, and queer prom students across the country.

Founder Leon Elias Wu believes in the mission behind the brand: to uplift, empower, and equalize women, BIPOC, and LGBTQ+ communities. Often, the clients develop a connection when seeing them present these concepts on the runway. They are inspired and then aspire to wear the brand even years later.
