We want to share with you Marcello and Massimo’s marvelous story. They were able to fulfill their dream of getting married on a warm summer evening. For their special day, they chose a beautiful location, with a splendid panoramic view of the green and vibrant Italian hills.
A very picturesque and romantic setting to say “I do!” One could really shout it from the rooftops.
As part of their story, they share a love for South Africa and it’s customs. A country where they have gone several times and whose manifesto of freedom has become very important to them, as it is a symbol of an initially opposed union coming together.
For this reason, the couple inserted in each invitation a handwritten note with a special sentence from the 1996 South African Constitution: “Everyone has inherent dignity and the right to have their dignity respected and protected.”
To stay in theme, at the end of the evening they thanked their guests, honoring them each with a handwritten poem.
All of the stationary was written on Amalfi Amatruda paper, which is an ancient Italian paper mill located in Amalfi. The invitations were handwritten by a calligrapher and sealed with wax. Even the name placeholders were handwritten on Amalfi paper.
The color palette for this gorgeous wedding was a parade of dark reds, from burgundy all the way to violet.
A vibrant palette continued by the generous amount of flowers, all belonging to the same type: the South African protea. A choice of extreme elegance in spite of the vivacity and abstractness of this flower.
The couple’s outfits are both creations of the Italian designer Cleofe Finati. Using eccentric silks with great personality, almost theatrical, but always very elegant. The shoes followed the same brilliant style.
The outfits were made complete with adorable accessories such as the top hat and a walking stick dipped in gold. All designed by Cleofe Finati.
Every detail was made with such care and filled with important symbolism. For example, two intertwined proteas symbolize the couple. We find this image tattooed on the back of the couple’s hands. Only when they are hand in hand, the design is complete. An eccentric stylistic choice with great emotional importance behind it.
They arrived in location with a vintage car and they changed their outfits there. Their beautiful civil ceremony was celebrated with those nearest and dearest to them, surrounded by proteas.
The reception took place on a panoramic terrace featuring a decadent and elegant mise-en- place.
