We met during high school in Los Angeles, CA at an Academic Decathlon competition. Ash was on the team representing the state of Nebraska, and I was on the team representing Indiana. We met by chance at the hotel pool where our teams were staying for the competition.
For three days there in Los Angeles, in between competition events, we stole moments away from our teams to go out for breakfast together, lay by the pool talking, and walk along Santa Monica Pier in search of gelato. When my team went back home to Indiana and Ash’s team went back home to Nebraska, we kept in touch. We were long distance for two years until I moved to Nebraska during college and we got an apartment together. The rest is history! We’ve been together for over 6 years now.
We knew when we were planning our wedding that we wanted an intimate ceremony– that’s just our style. We also have a love for the outdoors, so we wanted to be somewhere beautiful where the two of us could get out and explore together. When we were looking for something that hit the right notes, we found Simply Eloped online.
Oh my goodness, there were so many options for the location! We looked through the entire gallery of locations before we found the perfect place: the forested, snowy mountains of Rocky Mountain National Park.
We saw other couples’ pictures for RMNP and fell in love with the location. We love hiking and national parks, so this was perfect. We held the ceremony at Bear Lake, and took pictures both there and at Sprague Lake.
