Jacob and Jacob – yes, the grooms are both named Jacob – met on Tinder and sometimes like to say that Tinder is the friend who introduced them. However, they could have easily met before but don’t remember. They are both from Los Angeles, they both went to Brown University (but only overlapped one year at school) and Jacob G’s older brother Max was in Jacob C’s year (and they were friends), so it’s likely they were both at one of Max’s parties at some point. Fast forward four years, Jacob and Jacob were well-matched on Tinder, started talking, and finally went on their first date, mini golf, at Sherman Oaks Castle Park. They both felt an instant connection and one week later, and four dates, it was pretty clear what was going on.

Jacob C will say that Jacob G is one of the smartest and most passionate people he has ever met. He cares deeply about others, is generous with his friends and family, and inspires Jacob C to be kinder and less judgmental of others. A few months after their wedding, Jacob G graduated from medical school in San Francisco. He definitely subscribes to the motto: Work hard, play hard.

Jacob G will say that Jacob C is unbelievably creative, effortlessly funny, and one of the most lovable people he has ever met. Jacob G has always been in awe of Jacob C’s deep connections with his closest friends and family, and also his ability to instantly become the most popular person in the room. Jacob is in the film industry and during their wedding planning he wrote and released one of his films.

One of the big things that Jacob and Jacob bonded over early in their relationship was their shared love of playing piano — they would play piano for four hands together at the same piano. On their wedding day, they got ready separately with their wedding party, then had a quiet first look moment and then played the piano together before their wedding ceremony.

Jacob and Jacob’s wedding was held at Newhall Mansion, a picturesque historical property in Southern California. Their Jewish wedding ceremony was held on the expansive lawn, followed by cocktails and music by a string trio during sunset, and then dinner and dancing al fresco in the courtyard.

It goes without saying, that Jacob and Jacob are well loved by their family and friends. Many tears of happiness were shed throughout their wedding day, including a poignant moment in their wedding ceremony when their friend Christine read the final paragraph from 2015 of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy’s opinion holding that couples of the same sex have a constitutional right to wed and what marriage means:

No union is more profound than marriage, for it embodies the highest ideals of love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice, and family. In forming a marital union, two people become something greater than once they were. As some of the petitioners in these cases demonstrate, marriage embodies a love that may endure even past death. It would misunderstand these men and women to say they disrespect the idea of marriage. Their plea is that they respect it, respect it so deeply that they seek to find its fulfillment for themselves. Their hope is not to be condemned to live in loneliness, excluded from one of civilization’s oldest institutions. They ask for equal dignity in the eyes of the law. The Constitution grants them that right.
