Amber and Cheyanne met at Florida Southern College – they were both part of the ROTC program there. Amber was a year ahead of Cheyanne and they spent the better part of a year getting to know each other and became great friends prior to dating.
How long have you been together?
Amber and Cheyanne got engaged just shy of a year after they started dating, and were engaged for 2 years before they got married on their 3 year anniversary – January 10th, 2020. They have been together for 3 years.
What is the biggest obstacle you’ve had to overcome as a couple?
One of the biggest obstacles we have had to overcome as a couple is that we both care SO MUCH about the things we are passionate about, and we are both SO strong headed about those things that we often fail to look at the opposite side. On that note, what I love most about our relationship is that we both take the time to understand the other’s view, but also help each other to see the bigger picture. Together, we have learned what is truly important, and what is (and is not) worth getting upset about.
What do you love the most about your spouse?
Cheyanne first fell in love with Amber because she loves fiercely. She would do anything for anyone, even if it means being in 2 places at one time. Amber loves that Cheyanne is usually the person who helps her see both sides of an argument or issue, even if she does not like to admit it.
Describe your wedding day:
(From Cheyanne’s POV): Our wedding day was absolutely magical. All day, everyone kept telling me that Amber was a mess, and couldn’t stop crying. I often make jokes that she is more of a girl than me! Cross Creek Ranch and the entire staff was there from start to finish, making sure I did not have to lift a single finger. Oddly enough, I just watched our wedding video again last night. The day was perfect for an outdoor Florida wedding, and we could not have asked for better weather. Looking back, I can honestly say I did not have to worry or stress about much that day. Walking down the aisle, I could not see anything because my eyes were so full of tears. Of course, the nervousness did not hit me until it was time to walk down! Our ceremony was short and sweet, and the reception was fun and full of dancing! Which is what we wanted – all of our closest friends and family, who helped us get to this day, there with us to celebrate! (From Amber’s POV): It was the best day of my life and I cried the whole day!
What was your favorite part?
Cheyanne’s favorite part of the day was: (1) Being introduced as Mrs. and Mrs. Presto for the first time and seeing all of the people who came to love and support us, and (2) We had a “last dance” where just Amber and I danced at the end of the night before the big sparkler exit. Amber’s favorite part of the day was getting to say the words “I do” and officially be together for all of our friends and family to see and know.
What advice would you give to other couples planning their wedding?
Our advice to other couples is to enjoy the process. It can be very overwhelming when you first start, or when everyone else wants to give their opinion. THIS IS YOUR DAY. Amber and I wanted to keep the traditions that we could, like the first look, first dance, father/daughter dances, garter removal/bouquet toss, etc. but we were not oblivious to the fact that our wedding was far from traditional. So we made it our own by little things like changing the way we did our garter removal, and the “grooms cake.” We made it our own. And it is so important to make it your own, because it is your day. Communicating what each person wants, and not agreeing to something that they don’t like – this is about both of you as a couple! Remember that many people will give their advice, but make sure you talk about what you want as a couple.
Now that the wedding is over, what are your goals or future plans as a married couple?
Amber is an ER nurse in central Florida, and Cheyanne is finishing her last semester of college. They both plan to get their Masters and focus on finishing schooling within the next few years. They moved into their first home in January, and have 2 dogs and a cat. Within the next 5 years, they plan to start a family and fill their new home!
