Dan and Dan’s summer wedding on Mackinac Island captured the breathtaking greens and blues of island life as well as its bounty.

Their luxury grooms’ attire reflected their love of the island and the summer. Dan’s side of the wedding party dressed in shades of green to coordinate with his green sport coat. Dan’s side of the wedding party wore shades of blue to coordinate with his blue sport coat. Their handsome wedding attire popped against the natural beauty of the island.

They have been together for just over 6 years and got engaged on April 7, 2019 in Snowbird, Utah. They spent months deciding what a wedding would look like for them; big vs small, destination vs local, etc.

Though they live in Michigan, they took their first trip to Mackinac Island ever in October 2019 and fell in love. They spent a few months researching the possibility of a wedding up there and reached out to Carole Erbel, their wedding planner, and the rest was history!

They kept their wedding simple and classic. They included rustic elements through their boutonnieres and centerpieces. They wanted to have a beautiful location for their ceremony and reception to celebrate with their friends and family.

Mission Point Resort on Mackinac Island proved to be the ideal spot for them. They were married on the steps of the Gazebo on the lush lawn overlooking the brilliant blue water. There are no cars allowed on the island, so they took a carriage ride downtown and stopped for coffee at a famous local coffee house.

At their reception, they included nods to their three dogs by featuring them on their cake topper and the guests’ goodie bags! They included popcorn and pieces of fudge, an island specialty.

They placed a kazoo next to each guest’s place setting with a note that explained how their first date was at Dave and Buster’s. They only had enough tickets at the end of the night to get two kazoos. Those kazoos now graced their wedding cake, and guests greeted their entrance by blowing on the kazoos!

Dan and Dan hopped on the dance floor for a memorable first dance, and their guests followed shortly thereafter to join the fun. This happy day in a beautiful setting was the dream wedding that “The Dans” as their friends call them, had been planning for so long.
