This same-sex wedding in Arizona is fresh and intimate with a Buddhist blessing.
Cynthia and Elaine were ecstatic on their wedding day, an opportunity they never dreamed would become a reality in Arizona for same-sex couples. They began the day with a private and emotional first glance under the shaded mesquite desert backdrop at Regale! at DC Ranch in Scottsdale, AZ. They incorporated various elements of their Buddhist beliefs throughout the wedding ceremony and reception.
During their outdoor patio ceremony, Cynthia and Elaine exchanged malas–strings of prayer beads–with each other. They also presented malas as gifts to each member of their bridal party. Their wedding ceremony was blessed both by a Buddhist monk and a traditional officiant. Cynthia and Elaine wrapped up their wedding day celebration with a sparkler farewell with their wedding guests. “All In” is how Cynthia and Elaine describe their relationship—fully committed to each other without reservation.
