9 Things to Think About While Looking at Venues
From the Wedding Planners at JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa
How many of your family and friends will be joining you as you celebrate your marriage? Many venues offer pricing based on the number of guests attending, it’s helpful to have a tentative number of RSVPs plus a bit of wiggle room for any guests in the ‘maybe’ category when you first contact venues.
Keep the theme in mind when looking at potential venues – will these venues be able to accommodate your theme to the extent you’re looking for?
Is your date set in stone? Having a few options for dates may work in your favor as pricing can often be affected by availability.
What type of food are you wanting to serve your guests? Do you prefer plated meals or a traditional buffet? Dining choices will have an impact on price and location.
Are you looking to tie the knot outdoors, inside, or a bit of both? Venues will be able to show you all available spaces upon your visit.
Does the venue have rooms for guests coming from out of town? Do they recommend hotels nearby? Have a rough estimate of how many of your guests will need accommodations – be conservative with this estimate and then add as needed.
If a venue sends information to you before your tour, be sure to review it carefully for pricing, hidden costs, and what is or isn’t included in each package. You can make the most out of your tour if you have an understanding of pricing and options before you arrive.
Get a minimum of three different venue proposals so you can compare each option and find the best for you.
Prepare a list of questions to ask when you visit each venue. Don’t be afraid to ask about what venues can do to make your special day exactly as perfect as you imagine.
