This elegant gay wedding on Mackinac Island with inspire you! Here about how the couple met from one of the grooms…

Keith spent several of his childhood years in Ann Arbor, MI. As an adult, after graduation from Princeton he came back for his PHD at the University of Michigan. As for myself, I lived in Michigan all my life. Keith and I met at a party hosted by mutual friends. We lived together in Ann Arbor for about 2 years until Keith accepted a position with Rhodes college in Memphis, TN. We often make an effort to visit family still living in Michigan and still call Michigan our home state. There isn’t a day that goes by where we won’t see a pure Michigan commercial on TV.

Since Keith and I both grew up in Michigan, and Mackinac Island was always a highlight of our summer. We both knew we wanted to be married on Mackinac Island and knew the moment we toured the venue with their wedding coordinator (Marty Davis) that this was the right fit for us. The grounds, architecture, history of the hotel, atmosphere and staff were beyond our wildest dreams. As a gay and interracial couple we were a little hesitant, but the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and appreciated. Our flowers were done by Margrets Garden. They are located inside of the hotel and they were able to draw some beautiful centerpiece ideas that we were able to choose from. The flowers we picked were lime and soft yellow cymbidium orchids. The centerpieces were lime and soft yellow cymbidium orchids with a light mix of greenery. They also came up with an idea to include a miniature lime green cymbidium orchid inside each guest napkins. Our cake was done by the Grand Hotel. The cake was a 3 tier white iced buttercream with a scroll pattern and a piped pearl border with raspberry filling topped with yellow and green cymbidium orchids. Our favorite part of our wedding was being able to celebrate together with our family and close friends. It was a beautiful ceremony on the porch of the Grand Hotel followed by a reception in one of the small and more intimate dinning rooms of the hotel called the Pontiac Room. Andrejka our photographer did an incredible job capturing all the emotion and joy from our wedding day.
