One of the most important and obvious aspects of your wedding will be the flowers. They can also be one of the most expensive. There are ways around that. Here are a couple of ways you can save money on your wedding flowers.

Stick to the Season

If flowers are a huge factor for you, plan your wedding based on the flowers that are in season. If flower variety isn’t overly important but the time of year is, then make sure you choose flowers that are in season.

Spring, Iris, Peony, Sweet Pea, Calla Lily, Lilac, Tulip, Hyacinth, Rose

Summer, Poppy, Chrysanthemum, Gerbera, Sunflower, Freesia, Hydrangea, Zinnia, Rose

Fall, Asiatic Lily, Dahlia, Rose Calla Lily, Celosia, Chrysanthemum

Winter, Poppies, Alstromeria, Calla Lilies, Delphinium, Gardenias, Paper White, Rose, Carnation

Choose Inexpensive Flowers

Ask your florist about the different prices of flowers and try to stick to the ones on the lower end of the price scale. There are plenty of flowers that are gorgeous, especially when artfully arranged that are inexpensive. Things like daisies, dahlias, and chrysanthemums are all on the lower end. If you want to have orchids, try to limit it to a main centerpiece or the bouquet and choose complimentary, but less expensive varieties for the rest of your flower needs.

Arrange Your Own

Buying flowers in bulk and arranging them yourself can save you a lot of money. It isn’t hard to learn and it is a lot of fun. Look on the internet for flower arranging tutorials and enlist the help of any friends who have a great eye for detail.

Use Fillers

You can create or purchase bouquets that are heavy on the greenery and fillers and light on the actual flowers. This gives the appearance of a full centerpiece or arrangement, but it is much more affordable. It gives you the real flowers you desire at a much lower cost.

Reuse Arrangements

Your wedding flowers can be moved to the ceremony with little effort. Delegate a member of your wedding party to bring the flowers to the reception. Make sure you leave detailed instructions as to where the flowers are to be placed.
